Assam, The land of the mighty Brahmaputra enthrals in scenic beauty and boasts of a rich silk weaving heritage. The roots of this weaver tradition dates back to the Ahom royalty. Sualkuchi a small weaving community village has kept alive the tradition of handloom where every household spins the Loom. The magic of these indigenous silks Paat ( Mulberry silk) , Eri and Muga is beautifully crafted and woven by expert hands of these weaver clusters. The beauty of these silks reflect in their texture , slubs and colors. The motifs play a significant role in highlighting important aspects of assamese tradition. Gos buta ( tree motif) , Bena ( traditional jewellery motif) Xinghap ( royal Ahom insignia) . Kirameki by designer Nandini Baruva celebrates the weavers and artisans and the very tradition of weaving through her collection Magic Loom #madeinassam. The spring summer 2017 collection is an aesthetic blend of eri cotton kecha paat muga spun and pineapple fibre. The inspiration of my next season is GO NATURAL !
