Halloween Guwahati

Guwahati city had its fair share of Halloween parties and the arrangements were quite impressive but then there was a great share of debate as well. I am used to this whole debate thing in our country by now, and the debate this time over was why we (Indians) should celebrate Halloween. I personally enjoy every festival, occasion and festivity as it gives an excuse for celebration, togetherness and joy. So, Halloween is just another celebration that I love to enjoy and I basically tried to put in some of my know-how about Halloween celebration and see the logic into it.

Halloween is basically a celebration observed in a number of countries on 31st October which is the eve of the Western Christian feast of All Hallows’ Day. The celebrations are dedicated in remembering the dead, including saints, martyrs and all the faithful departed. The fun of Halloween lies in its activities that include trick-or-treating, Halloween costume parties, carving pumpkins into jack-o-lanterns, lighting bonfires and much more.

For me, the costumes steal the show completely. Halloween costumes are traditionally designed after supernatural figures such as vampires, monsters, ghosts, skeletons, witches and devils. The new trend is also of dressing up as popular characters from fiction, celebrities and archetypes. The costumes that stole the hearts this Halloween and have made it big on social media are the little sweetheart dressed as Jon Snow and her furry dog was of course Ghost. The next was the Pandaloon Puppy. Oh yes, the cute pup dressed as a panda and it just keeps running about, total cuteness overloaded. Also, the lit skeleton costume worn by the adorable little boy was way too cute. The minions just made my heart melt, I mean imagine little minions just goofing around *awww* and I am sure all these costumes received Treat all the way as they were just too cutely irresistible.

In Guwahati, Club Topaz on the 29th of October had a Halloween themed party. The three DJs who were rolling out some bone-crackling music on the console were DJ Dee, Beatronix and Evan. The revelers had a blast of a time with their red horns given by the club and some great Halloween feel. Even Terra Mayaa had an awesome Halloween, complete with scary masks, spooky décor with witch dolls, cobwebs, bleeding candles, tomb stone and all. DJ Felix smashed the console with great music and the grooves of Halloween just reached an all different peak.

So, a celebration is not all bad. It may be adopted from other cultures but its purpose is the same- to get people together in order to have a great time and so Halloween even though is not Indian much still is instilled with the same  line of thought- ENJOYMENT.
